Aavahu Sikh Sathiguroo Kae Piaariho Gaavahu Sachee Baanee ||

Come, O beloved Sikhs of the True Guru, and sing the True Word of His Bani.

ਬਾਣੀ ਤ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਰੀ ਬਾਣੀਆ ਸਿਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

Baanee Th Gaavahu Guroo Kaeree Baaneeaa Sir Baanee ||

Sing the Guru’s Bani, the supreme Word of Words.

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥

Jin Ko Nadhar Karam Hovai Hiradhai Thinaa Samaanee ||

Those who are blessed by the Lord’s Glance of Grace – their hearts are imbued with this Bani.

ਪੀਵਹੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਜਪਿਹੁ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਣੀ ॥

Peevahu Anmrith Sadhaa Rehahu Har Rang Japihu Saarigapaanee ||

Drink in this Ambrosial Nectar, and remain in the Lord’s Love forever; meditate on the Lord, the Sustainer of the world.

ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਏਹ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੨੩॥

Kehai Naanak Sadhaa Gaavahu Eaeh Sachee Baanee ||23||

Says Nanak, sing this True Bani forever. ||23||

ਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ

Har Eaek Simar Eaek Simar Eaek Simar Piaarae ||

Meditate in remembrance on the One Lord; meditate in remembrance on the One Lord; meditate in remembrance on the One Lord, O my Beloved.

ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਮਹਾ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਾਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Kal Kalaes Lobh Moh Mehaa Bhoujal Thaarae || Rehaao ||

He shall save you from strife, suffering, greed, attachment, and the most terrifying world-ocean. ||Pause||

ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ॥

Saas Saas Nimakh Nimakh Dhinas Rain Chithaarae ||

With each and every breath, each and every instant, day and night, dwell upon Him.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਜਪਿ ਨਿਸੰਗ ਮਨਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੧॥

Saadhhasang Jap Nisang Man Nidhhaan Dhhaarae ||1||

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, meditate on Him fearlessly, and enshrine the treasure of His Name in your mind. ||1||

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਗੁਨ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥

Charan Kamal Namasakaar Gun Gobidh Beechaarae ||

Worship His lotus feet, and contemplate the glorious virtues of the Lord of the Universe.

ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੰਗਲ ਸੂਖ ਸਧਾਰੇ ॥੨॥੧॥੩੧॥

Saadhh Janaa Kee Raen Naanak Mangal Sookh Sadhhaarae ||2||1||31||

O Nanak, the dust of the feet of the Holy shall bless you with pleasure and peace. ||2||1||31||

ਸਭੇ ਥੋਕ ਪਰਾਪਤ ੇ ਜੇ ਆਵੈ ਇਕੁ ਹਥਿ

Sabhae Thhok Paraapathae Jae Aavai Eik Hathh ||

All things are received if the One is obtained.

ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਥਿ ॥

Janam Padhaarathh Safal Hai Jae Sachaa Sabadh Kathh ||

The precious gift of this human life becomes fruitful when one chants the True Word of the Shabad.

ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਰਾਪਤੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਮਥਿ ॥੧॥

Gur Thae Mehal Paraapathae Jis Likhiaa Hovai Mathh ||1||

One who has such destiny written on his forehead enters the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence, through the Guru. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਏਕਸ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥

Maerae Man Eaekas Sio Chith Laae ||

O my mind, focus your consciousness on the One.

ਏਕਸ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਭ ਧੰਧੁ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Eaekas Bin Sabh Dhhandhh Hai Sabh Mithhiaa Mohu Maae ||1|| Rehaao ||

Without the One, all entanglements are worthless; emotional attachment to Maya is totally false. ||1||Pause||

ਲਖ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀਆ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥

Lakh Khuseeaa Paathisaaheeaa Jae Sathigur Nadhar Karaee ||

Hundreds of thousands of princely pleasures are enjoyed, if the True Guru bestows His Glance of Grace.

ਨਿਮਖ ਏਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

Nimakh Eaek Har Naam Dhaee Maeraa Man Than Seethal Hoe ||

If He bestows the Name of the Lord, for even a moment, my mind and body are cooled and soothed.

ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਗਹੇ ॥੨॥

Jis Ko Poorab Likhiaa Thin Sathigur Charan Gehae ||2||

Those who have such pre-ordained destiny hold tight to the Feet of the True Guru. ||2||

ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਸਫਲਾ ਘੜੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥

Safal Moorath Safalaa Gharree Jith Sachae Naal Piaar ||

Fruitful is that moment, and fruitful is that time, when one is in love with the True Lord.

ਦੂਖੁ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥

Dhookh Santhaap N Lagee Jis Har Kaa Naam Adhhaar ||

Suffering and sorrow do not touch those who have the Support of the Name of the Lord.

ਬਾਹ ਪਕੜਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਢਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਉਤਰਿਆ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੩॥

Baah Pakarr Gur Kaadtiaa Soee Outhariaa Paar ||3||

Grasping him by the arm, the Guru lifts them up and out, and carries them across to the other side. ||3||

ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੈ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ॥

Thhaan Suhaavaa Pavith Hai Jithhai Santh Sabhaa ||

Embellished and immaculate is that place where the Saints gather together.

ਢੋਈ ਤਿਸਹੀ ਨੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਲਭਾ ॥

Dtoee This Hee No Milai Jin Pooraa Guroo Labhaa ||

He alone finds shelter, who has met the Perfect Guru.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬਧਾ ਘਰੁ ਤਹਾਂ ਜਿਥੈ ਮਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਜਰਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੭੬॥

Naanak Badhhaa Ghar Thehaan Jithhai Mirath N Janam Jaraa ||4||6||76||

Nanak builds his house upon that site where there is no death, no birth, and no old age. ||4||6||76||

Gurasikhaa Man Vaadhhaaeeaa

ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਾਧਾਈਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਡਿਠਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ

Gurasikhaa Man Vaadhhaaeeaa Jin Maeraa Sathiguroo Ddithaa Raam Raajae ||

The minds of the Gursikhs rejoice, because they have seen my True Guru, O Lord King.

ਕੋਈ ਕਰਿ ਗਲ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਸੋ ਲਗੈ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਮਨਿ ਮਿਠਾ ॥

Koee Kar Gal Sunaavai Har Naam Kee So Lagai Gurasikhaa Man Mithaa ||

If someone recites to them the story of the Lord’s Name, it seems so sweet to the mind of those Gursikhs.

ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪੈਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਈਅਹਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ॥

Har Dharageh Gurasikh Painaaeeahi Jinhaa Maeraa Sathigur Thuthaa ||

The Gursikhs are robed in honor in the Court of the Lord; my True Guru is very pleased with them.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੨॥

Jan Naanak Har Har Hoeiaa Har Har Man Vuthaa ||4||12||19||

Servant Nanak has become the Lord, Har, Har; the Lord, Har, Har, abides within his mind. ||4||12||19||

 

So Kio Mandhaa Aakheeai (Bhandd Janmeeai)

ਭੰਡਿ ਜੰਮੀਐ ਭੰਡਿ ਨਿੰਮੀਐ ਭੰਡਿ ਮੰਗਣੁ ਵੀਆਹੁ ॥

Bhandd Janmeeai Bhandd Ninmeeai Bhandd Mangan Veeaahu ||

From woman, man is born; within woman, man is conceived; to woman he is engaged and married.

ਭੰਡਹੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਭੰਡਹੁ ਚਲੈ ਰਾਹੁ ॥

Bhanddahu Hovai Dhosathee Bhanddahu Chalai Raahu ||

Woman becomes his friend; through woman, the future generations come.

ਭੰਡੁ ਮੁਆ ਭੰਡੁ ਭਾਲੀਐ ਭੰਡਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਬੰਧਾਨੁ ॥

Bhandd Muaa Bhandd Bhaaleeai Bhandd Hovai Bandhhaan ||

When his woman dies, he seeks another woman; to woman he is bound.

ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਮੰਦਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿਤੁ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਰਾਜਾਨ ॥

So Kio Mandhaa Aakheeai Jith Janmehi Raajaan ||

So why call her bad? From her, kings are born.

ਭੰਡਹੁ ਹੀ ਭੰਡੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਭੰਡੈ ਬਾਝੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

Bhanddahu Hee Bhandd Oopajai Bhanddai Baajh N Koe ||

From woman, woman is born; without woman, there would be no one at all.

ਨਾਨਕ ਭੰਡੈ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਏਕੋ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥

Naanak Bhanddai Baaharaa Eaeko Sachaa Soe ||

O Nanak, only the True Lord is without a woman.

ਜਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਭਾਗਾ ਰਤੀ ਚਾਰਿ ॥

Jith Mukh Sadhaa Saalaaheeai Bhaagaa Rathee Chaar ||

That mouth which praises the Lord continually is blessed and beautiful.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲੇ ਤਿਤੁ ਸਚੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥੨॥

Naanak Thae Mukh Oojalae Thith Sachai Dharabaar ||2||

O Nanak, those faces shall be radiant in the Court of the True Lord. ||2||
